Canadian Business Taxes Amongst Lowest in World
Canadian business taxes are among the lowest in the world, contrary to the stream of misleading reports pumped out by corporate-funded outfits like the Fraser Institute (including this one in July).

Saving The Canadian Wheat Board
Organized workers know the importance of collective bargaining in their workplaces. But not everyone knows that one of Canada’s biggest, oldest and most stable collective bargaining units is based in the vast grain fields of the Prairies.

Governor General's Leadership Conference 'Amazing'
It has been more than three weeks since I returned from the Governor General’s Leadership Conference. My mind is still spinning. My experience was nothing short of amazing. I will try to encapsulate my thoughts in a brief write up that I hope will do it justice.

The Carbon Tax Debate, Part II
The last blog took a look at Canada’s poor performance with regard to reducing greenhouse gases and the shortcomings inherent in the notion of a carbon tax. Extended Hours Not Convenient For Everyone
In the last few weeks, negotiations between the MGEU and Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) have stalled. While there are monetary and other issues that remain to be negotiated, the main point of contention is management’s insistence on extending working hours. Management not only wants MPI claim and service centres open on Saturdays, but they will not guarantee employees two consecutive days off.
