Happy Holidays from the MGEU!
Dec 20, 2007
Winter in Manitoba is a wonderful time to get together with family and friends and enjoy the spirit of the holiday season. At this time of year, we have a tremendous opportunity to appreciate Manitoba’s rich diversity. While we may celebrate the holiday season in different ways by recognizing different customs and traditions, Manitobans share a deeper foundation of peace and goodwill no matter where they’re from or what their religious or cultural backgrounds may be.
Our union is dedicated to ensuring as many people as possible enjoy a special holiday each year. That’s why we host a Craft and Bake Sale to raise money to bring happiness to families who may be experiencing challenging circumstances. In Winnipeg, money raised is used to support local charities like the Christmas Cheer Board. Our rural offices share in the proceeds from the sale, and also contribute in their communities by donating to local charities or by purchasing gifts for kids or sponsoring Christmas hampers. It’s one way of giving back to the communities that have been good to us.
It’s been another great year for MGEU – and for Manitoba. Here’s hoping next year is better still. Once again, I want to wish you and yours a happy holiday!
Peter Olfert
MGEU President
